Jeep Gladiator to get 4xe plug-in hybrid system next year
Like the Wrangler 4xe, the Gladiator PHEV will likely have an electrified 2.0L turbo

Jeep's go-anywhere pickup truck will soon be available with an electrified powertrain. After first being offered in the Wrangler, Jeep's 4xe plug-in hybrid (system) will be making its way to the Gladiator pickup truck.
This was officially confirmed by Jeep CEO Antonio Filosa over on his LinkedIn profile. According to the executive, the PHEV version of the Gladiator will be coming next year and will join the likes of the Wrangler 4xe and Grand Cherokee 4xe.

No exact specifications were revealed about the upcoming Gladiator 4xe. However, we won't be surprised if it has a similar setup to the electrified Wrangler. That means it might be powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that's assisted by a lithium-ion battery pack and an electric motor.
In the Wrangler 4xe, the turbocharged PHEV engine makes a combined 380 PS along with a meaty 637 Nm of pull. With a fully charged battery, the plug-in hybrid Wrangler can travel up to 40 km without using a drop of fuel.

The Jeep Wrangler 4xe's PHEV system
Since the Gladiator 4xe will be used for going off-road, it will likely have a modified chassis that will house the battery pack. More importantly, the housing and conduits connecting the battery with the powertrain are sealed and waterproof.
With the Jeep Gladiator no longer available with an EcoDiesel V6, introducing a new plug-in hybrid variant will allow buyers to choose an alternative besides the naturally aspirated Pentastar 3.6-liter gas V6. The only question now is will Inchcape Philippines bring the electrified variants of the Gladiator and the Wrangler.
