Jaecoo 7 crossover coming to PH in 2023

The influx of Chinese auto brands in the Philippine market was evident at the 2023 Manila International Auto Show where the majority of new vehicles shown were made in the PRC.

But as it turns out, there are two more brands coming into the country this year. One is Omoda, and the other one is Jaecoo. The two will launch their models at the same time, with the former bringing the Omoda 5 crossover first, while the latter has announced they will have the Jaecoo 7 as their first model for the PH market.

Jaecoo Philippines says the 7 crossover will have the size, ground clearance, and performance of a crossover SUV while boasting of technology and comfort found in luxury-scale brands.

The first variant to be launched will be the petrol-powered version – one that has a 1.6-liter turbo engine with 290 NM of torque. Initial tests have shown that the Jaecoo 7 can sprint from 0-100km/h in 8.9 seconds and returns a fuel consumption rate of around 13 km/l.

Inside, owners will be treated to a plush interior featuring digital gauges for the driver, and a touchscreen vertical center console equipped with wireless Apple CarPlay / Android Auto and paired to a premium 8-speaker setup. Seats are covered with leather fabric, while the dashboard and ambient cabin lights add up to the posh interior.

Additional tech includes wireless phone charging, 4 USB ports with fast charging, armrest with a dampener, a power-adjustable driver seat, a power moonroof, all-auto power windows, and keyless entry.

In addition, the Jaecoo 7 will feature a groundbreaking 540-degree around view monitor (AVM). The 540 camera aims to give make blind spot around the vehicle visible, including the bottom of the vehicle – which is very useful when the car is taken off-road.

In terms of safety, the Jaecoo 7 will be equipped with the full ESP (Electronic Stability Program) suite that includes ABS, Electronic Brake Assist, Traction Control, Hill Assist, and a 21-function ADAS safety system). The Jaecoo 7 is also equipped with dual front, side, curtain, and airbags in between seats.

Jaecoo Philippines says while their first model in the country is purely ICE-powered, the “new energy” models, which are presumably electrified, are coming by 2024.

As it stands, the Omoda 5, Omoda EV, and the Jaecoo 7 now belong to the list of new vehicles we will get to see in the Philippine market this year.
