JAC JS8 Pro plug-in hybrid can cover up to 1,300 km
The JS8 Pro PHEV has 204 PS with 320 Nm of torque but is easy on the fuel bills

Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) continue to grow in popularity in the country. With the ability to travel on electric power without the dreaded range anxiety, more and more customers are making the switch to such types of vehicles.
Not to be outdone by its rivals, JAC recently brought one of its latest New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) at the 2024 Auto Guangzhou, the JAC JS8 Pro PHEV. Also called the X8 PHEV in its home market, this three-row electrified crossover SUV benefits from an electrified powertrain that emits fewer emissions while also providing pure electric mobility over certain distances.

Its exterior may look the same as a regular JS8 Pro, but since this is a PHEV, it has a 1.5L four-cylinder engine that makes a humble 152 PS with 210 Nm of torque. However, it benefits from an electric motor and a 19.01 kWh lithium iron-phosphate battery pack. The result is a total system output of 204 PS and 320 Nm of torque. Power is then sent to a dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT) that drives the front wheels.
Even more impressive is the fact the JS8 PHEV can travel up to 84 km on pure electric power based on the WLTC cycle. With a fully charged battery and a full tank of gas, JAC says the JS8 Pro PHEV can do up to 1,300 km.

With its ability to cover long distances while consuming less fuel as well as having the ability to run on electric power, the JS8 Pro PHEV could prove to be popular for those who are looking to get a family crossover SUV that’s coding exempt and easy on the fuel bills.

For now, however, there are no plans yet to bring the JS8 Pro PHEV to the Philippine market. But given the PHEVs are growing in popularity as I mentioned earlier, perhaps the automaker is biding its time to bring the electrified three-row crossover to the market in the near future.
We’ll be keeping our fingers crossed they make it a reality here in the Philippines.
