Isuzu PH holds relief operations for Abra earthquake victims

Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC), in partnership with Isuzu Isabela - one of the dealers under B.M. Domingo Motor Sales Inc. (BMD Motors) - organized a relief operation in Abra Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO).

This was done to extend aid to the displaced families in the Abra province after the strong magnitude 7 earthquake that recently struck provinces in northwestern Luzon. It has been weeks since the massive quake, but many people from the mountainous province of Abra are still being evacuated due to the impending danger of more landslides and the collapse of unstable structures brought about by the earthquake.

IPC team headed by Administration Division Head Ms. Imelda Bernas, Sales Assistant Division Head Mr. Robert Carlos, and Isuzu Isabela Operations Manager Mr. Antonio Benito “Butch” Mijares traveled to Bangued, Abra to deliver relief goods such as food, water, and hygiene kits to 250 families currently settling in the nearby evacuation center.

The turnover of relief goods was done in Operation Center (OPCEN) warehouse 1 PDRRMO, Calaba, Bangued, Abra where incoming supplies are being sorted out before handing over to the evacuees. Hot meals good for 300 pax were also distributed among evacuees during the relief operation.

According to Ms. Cherish Lantano, a representative from the Provincial Government of Abra, they appreciate donations from private companies who go the extra mile just to give assistance to the victims of the earthquake. Although a week has already passed, the aftermath of the devastative quake forced people from different barangays to keep coming to the evacuation centers to seek shelter in fear of unstable infrastructures.

IPC’s partner for this relief operation, BMD Motors, is celebrating its 45th year anniversary this month of August. Meanwhile, as part of IPC’s Road to Progress vision, the company also remains committed to helping in times of emergency because volunteerism has always been instilled in Isuzu's DNA. IPC considers being able to provide aid to communities, especially in times of calamities, as their responsibility to the society and country.
