Is the refreshed Suzuki Carry coming to PH?

The latest Suzuki Carry has been in the Philippine market for quite some time. The utilitarian workhorse may not be the most stylish vehicle out there but it’s one of Suzuki’s most important vehicles as it caters to business owners and fleet logistics companies who need a small yet robust vehicle that can wear many hats.

While these types of vehicles rarely get updated, Suzuki did launch a refreshed version of the Carry in Indonesia back in 2021. It only gets minor exterior updates that consist of a slightly revised grille and an unpainted restyled front bumper that comes with a pair of “bumperettes”. It now also comes with a fire extinguisher as standard for extra peace of mind in case of emergencies.

Fast forward to 2025, and it looks like Suzuki Philippines Inc. is ready to introduce the facelifted Carry. This comes after the automaker received regulatory approval for a new light-duty vehicle that’s powered by a 1462cc gasoline engine. After a quick check of the numbers, the engine size is the same one found in the current and facelifted Carry which translates to 1.5 liters of displacement.

The mystery vehicle also has a reference weight of 1,040 kg and a maximum gross weight of 2,010 kg. These figures also translate to the curb weight and gross vehicle weight of the Suzuki Carry in the local and international markets.

As before, the updated Carry will most likely get the carried-over 1.5L K15B-C four-cylinder engine that makes 97 PS and 135 Nm of torque. Power is then sent to a 5-speed manual gearbox. It also has a generous ground clearance of 180mm which means drivers will not have to worry about uneven terrain when driving the Carry.

With the Suzuki Carry due for an update, perhaps we might see it later in the year.
