Is the Concept THREE our best look yet at Hyundai Ioniq 3?
Concept THREE will be the brand's first-ever compact EV concept

Hyundai is heading to this year's IAA Mobility in Munich, Germany, with something special. While the brand is not yet ready to show it in full, the company did show a teaser sketch of its upcoming concept.
This is your first look at the Concept THREE, and it could be our best look at the yet-to-be-revealed Hyundai Ioniq 3. Billed by the automaker as the sub-brand's first-ever compact EV concept, the sketch showcases the brand's future-forward design of the Concept THREE. Immediately grabbing your attention is its side profile, which is dominated by massive alloy wheels and what looks to be a distinct spoiler in the back called the Aero Hatch.
Hyundai says its design evokes an energetic stance that is shaped by the automaker's new design language called “Art of Steel”. It emphasizes how the way steel bends and flows, and features sculpted surfaces, clean intersections, and distinct character lines that show both motion and precision.
“Designing the Concept THREE was an opportunity for us to rethink the compact EV from the ground up. We defined the ‘Aero Hatch’ typology to craft a silhouette that captures a sense of flow and becomes a beautifully proportioned sculpture,” said Simon Loasby, Senior vice president and Head of Hyundai Design Center.

Just a few months ago, our spies managed to take photos of what could be the Hyundai Ioniq 2. While it may be a different model from the yet-to-be-revealed concept, we're curious if the camouflaged prototype that was spotted in Germany last July could be a test mule for the production version of the Concept THREE. It even has what looks to be the Aero Hatch, albeit covered in a distinct camo livery.
With the Hyundai Concept THREE set to be revealed next week on September 9, we'll be able to see if the concept could preview the Ioniq 2, the Ioniq 3, or something else entirely.
