Is the BYD Song Max DM-i coming to PH?
BYD Cars PH gets approval for new passenger vehicle, gets 1498cc engine and 145 kW electric motor

After making one heck of a noise in 2024, BYD Cars Philippines distributor ACMobility is set to further disrupt the automotive market with the launch of new and upcoming models.
We already have an idea that BYD Cars Philippines is set to launch the Shark 6 DM-o soon as they already posted about it on their social media page on Facebook. However, it seems the automaker will also be bringing another New Energy Vehicle (NEV).

Based on a recently approved regulatory approval, BYD Cars Philippines has received the go-ahead to bring a passenger vehicle powered by a 1498cc gasoline engine. It also comes with a 145 kW electric motor which translates to 197 PS. Last but not least, the mystery vehicle has a reference weight of 1765 kg.
After cross-checking some of the numbers, it appears the automaker is preparing to launch the Song Max DM-i. Like the rest of BYD’s DM-i lineup, the Song Max comes with a 1.5L engine that’s assisted by an electric motor and a lithium-iron phosphate battery pack.

Based on what other markets get, the Song Max DM-i’s engine makes a humble 110 PS and 135 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the electric motor generates 197 PS (145 kW) and a healthy 325 Nm of pull. An 18.3 kWh Blade battery provides the Song Max an electric range of up to 105 km based on the NEDC cycle. With both the engine and electric motor working together, however, the vehicle could be capable of traveling nearly 1,000 km before needing a refill or a recharge.

With the possibility of the Song Max DM-i arriving in the Philippines, it looks like BYD Cars Philippines wants all segments covered, including the compact MPV market. But unlike most MPVs in the segment, the Song Max DM-i is available as a 6-seater which could attract customers who want a roomy, spacious, and practical family vehicle.
Would the BYD Song Max DM-i make sense in the Philippines and could it give other MPVs in the segment a run for their money?
