Is the BYD King PHEV coming to the Philippines?
The King might be the next electrified car BYD Cars PH will launch later this month

BYD Philippines distributor ACMobility has been on a roll recently. From unveiling the Sealion, Seagull hatchback, and the Seal midsize sedan, the brand is going all out when bringing more electrified vehicles into the country.
With the brand launching several cars in a short amount of time, it seems the brand is done for the year. But just like famous TV ads of yesteryear, but wait, there’s more! Recently, the automaker released a teaser video of their upcoming release. For now, the automaker has yet to reveal what exactly they’ll be launching soon, but they did say the vehicle will make its debut this November.

Despite the brand’s best efforts to hide what they’re going to reveal, we already have a good idea of what to expect. Based on the teaser video the company recently released, it seems the BYD King is set to make its debut soon on Philippine soil.
Also called the BYD Destroyer 05 in other markets, the supposed electrified sedan could take on the likes of the Toyota Corolla Altis and Honda Civic e:HEV. It’s powered by the brand’s DM-i hybrid system which consists of a 1.5L four-cylinder engine that’s paired with a Blade battery and electric motors. This makes the sedan a plug-in hybrid system

Depending on what the company could bring, the BYD King could produce between 179 PS (single electric motor) and 197 PS (dual electric motors). Depending on the battery pack, the BYD King can travel up to 55 km without a drop of fuel or up to 75 km. With a full tank of gas and a fully charged, BYD claims the King has a combined range of up to 1,200 km.
For now, BYD Cars Philippines is quiet about what they’ll be launching soon. But given that its appearance looks just like the one in the teaser, we won’t be surprised if that will be the vehicle they could reveal soon.
