Is BYD Cars PH launching 2025 Han L, Tang L?
BYD's PHEV lineup in the country could soon include the Han L and Tang L DM-i

It seems that BYD Cars Philippines distributor ACMobility is not resting on its laurels. After launching the Shark 6 PHEV pickup last March and the eMAX 7 electric MPV at the 20th Manila International Auto Show last month, the Chinese automaker is set to launch not one but two possible models in the coming months.
Recently, the automaker received regulatory approval for an upcoming passenger vehicle. According to a government document, the mystery BYD vehicle will have a 1497cc turbocharged engine and be assisted by a 200 kW (or 272 PS) electric motor. It will also have a reference weight of 2130kg and a maximum mass of 2655kg.

After a quick check at what BYD currently offers in other markets, it looks like the automaker is gearing up to reveal the refreshed Han L and Tang L. Recently updated for the 2025 model year, the Han L and Tang L benefit from the brand's latest EV powertrain, which now supports a 1000V architecture, a Flash Charging Battery with a 10C charging rate (AKA 1000kW or megawatt charging), and a power output of up to 778 PS.
However, the 2025 Han L and Tang L are also available with the brand's latest DM-i plug-in hybrid system. It gets a 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder engine and comes with an electric motor that generates 272 PS and 315 Nm of torque. It also has a massive 29.5 kWh lithium-iron phosphate Blade FinDreams battery pack, which gives both vehicles an electric range of up to 200 km based on the CLTC cycle. On a full tank of gasoline and a fully charged battery, BYD says the Han L and Tang L DM-i can cover up to 1,400 km before needing a refill or a recharge.

With PHEVs continuing to become more popular in the country, BYD's plan to launch more plug-in hybrids could work in their favor as more customers make the switch to electrified vehicles.
