Initial D spin-off MF Ghost will become an anime
MF Ghost anime, the successor of Initial D, to air in 2023

If there's one anime that most car enthusiasts are all too familiar with, it's Initial D – Takumi Fujiwara's AE86 Trueno, Project D, Eurobeat, and everything else in between. However, the original anime ended in 2014, while a three-part movie retelling of the early stages of the manga premiered from 2014 to 2016. While the story of Initial D has long come to a close, the manga's author, Shuichi Shigeno, did write a sequel – MF Ghost.
The MF Ghost manga debuted in 2017 and features a new set of characters while still focusing on street racing. Furthermore, some of the characters from Initial D do make an appearance as well. Sounds interesting, right? But now, we have some good news for those that aren't too fond of reading the manga. Just like Initial D, MF Ghost will be getting an anime adaptation, and it will premiere in 2023.
There's already a promotional video of the MF Ghost anime, which you can watch above. It's quite short, and mainly shows the cars in the series. And yes, like Initial D, the protagonist in MF Ghost will be driving a (GT)86.
For those unfamiliar with the series, MF Ghost takes place in the 2020s where self-driving electric cars have taken over, replacing internal combustion vehicles. The story centers around Kanata Livingston, a Japanese driver who goes back to Japan after graduating from a top racing school in England. He competes in MFG driving a GT86, beating more powerful sports cars like the Nissan GT-R, Lamborghini Huracan, and even a Ferrari 488.
If the short synopsis above has you interested, you might want to start reading the manga already. Alternatively, you could wait for the anime, which will premiere next year.
