Hyundai PH to get all-new Palisade with 2.5L turbo-hybrid engine?
It looks like the turbo-hybrid Hyundai Palisade will make its way here soon

Last week, the all-new Hyundai Palisade made its ASEAN debut by way of Indonesia. Unlike other markets, which get a choice of a V6 or a turbocharged inline-four, the Indonesian-spec Palisade is only available with a 2.5L turbo-hybrid that is paired with a six-speed automatic gearbox. It also gets a sleek new look both inside and out, resulting in a more dynamic (and boxier) appearance than its predecessor.
Fast forward a week, and it looks like we can expect the all-new Palisade to arrive in the country. This comes after the automaker received regulatory approval for a new passenger vehicle that's powered by a 2497cc gasoline engine. Based on the engine's size, it's most likely the Smartstream G 2.5L turbocharged engine that's also available with a hybrid system.

On its own, the turbocharged 2.5L engine makes 281 PS at 5800 rpm along with 422 Nm of torque between 1700 – 4000 rpm. Power is then sent to an eight-speed automatic transmission. As for the turbo-hybrid version of the 2.5L, it generates a combined 334 PS and 460 Nm of torque, which makes it more powerful than the 2.5L turbo and the V6, which puts out 291 PS and 353 Nm of torque.
With Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc. (HMPH) already getting approval for a new 2497cc engine, it's more than likely the next-generation Palisade is set for a local debut. But since both turbo and turbo-hybrid engines share the same displacement, we're not quite sure yet if HMPH will offer just the 2.5L turbo or the 2.5L turbo-hybrid variants.
But given that Hyundai has been shifting towards electrified models, we reckon the Hyundai Palisade for the Philippine market will get the turbo-hybrid engine. The only question now is, when can we expect the full-size, three-row SUV to make its way here?
