Hyundai IONIQ 5 EV to serve as response vehicle for Makatizens
HMPH hands over five Hyundai IONIQ 5 units to City of Makati

The City of Makati has started to electrify its emergency response vehicle fleet with one of the world’s award-winning EVs.
Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc. (HMPH) handed over five units of its flagship EV, the IONIQ 5, to the local government of Makati. Painted in Phantom Black Pearl, the IONIQ 5 EV was selected for deployment as response vehicles in keeping and ensuring the safety of Makati City’s residents and transients.

“As a resilience hub, we recognize our critical role in addressing environmental concerns. By introducing the Hyundai IONIQ 5 electric vehicles into our public safety fleet, we not only enhance our emergency response capabilities but also contribute to reducing air pollution and our overall carbon footprint. This move not only bolsters our emergency services but also sets an example for other cities to follow in the pursuit of sustainable urban living,” said Mayor Mar-len Abigail “Abby” Binay.
Along with the turnover of the IONIQ 5 EV units, Hyundai will also install EV chargers at the Makati City Hall and Barangay Halls in Palanan and Guadalupe Viejo where the IONIQ 5 response vehicles are likely to be stationed and ready for deployment.

“The IONIQ 5 exemplifies the essence of Hyundai Motor Group’s technology and innovation. As proven by the World Car of the Year several times, capturing people’s heart all over the world. Undoubtedly, Makati is the most suitable city in the Philippines to match it. Today, we are planting the seed of sustainability. We will be one with your commitment in uplifting the lives of Makatizens,” said Mr. Dongwook Kim, Hyundai Motor Group (HMG) Strategy Planning Division Executive Vice President.
