Honda revives ASIMO as software platform of 0 Series EVs

At last year’s Consumer Electronics Show, Honda hit the reset button for its EV future with the debut of its 0 Series EV concepts. This showed Honda’s new direction for full electrification along with its new corporate design language.

A year later, Honda has shown the world the prototype models of the 0 Series EVs with a fitting recall to its technological past. At the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show, Honda presented the 0 Saloon and 0 SUV prototypes that will be introduced to global markets starting in 2026.

The Honda 0 Saloon prototype features a design evolution over the concept model shown last year, keeping the low height and sporty styling with the generous interior space brought by Honda’s dedicated EV architecture. Honda highlighted the 0 Saloon’s capability when it comes to automated driving technology, as the 0 Saloon features Level 3 automated driving tech called the Honda Sensing Elite.

Meanwhile, the 0 SUV is still based on the Space-Hub concept model from last year but was radically changed to feature more midsize SUV styling than a breadvan silhouette. With the “Thin, Light, and Wise” approach, the 0 SUV has greater interior space and better interior versatility.

Both 0 Series EVs will run the new ASIMO operating system for their electric architecture. That’s right Honda faithful, the name of Honda’s advanced humanoid robot from the 2000s has been used to highlight the “Wise” value of the 0 Series EVs. The ASIMO OS controls the 0 Series EVs electronic control units (ECUs), along with the automated driving/advanced driver assistance systems (AD/ADAS) and in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) system.

Furthermore, the ASIMO OS features over-the-air (OTA) updates to constantly upgrade the capabilities of the 0 Series EVs even if the cars are away from the dealership.

Honda says production models of the 0 Saloon and 0 SUV are scheduled to be introduced first in the North American market by 2026, before rolling out in other global markets like Japan and Europe.
