Honda Cars PH: Parts shortage causing HR-V delivery delays

If you’re one of the many that have already reserved or bought a brand new HR-V but have yet to actually get your car, you might have to wait a little while longer.

Honda Cars Philippines Inc (HCPI) recently announced that the arrival of new HR-V units to the country will be delayed. Based on an announcement they posted on Facebook, while they are committed to delivering world-class vehicles to customers, they are appealing for more understanding of the delays for the HR-V.

According to HCPI, the global parts shortage continues to hamper production which means the arrival schedule of new HR-V units in the Philippines remains uncertain.

“We sincerely apologize for this situation. Rest assured that our customers’ welfare is foremost in our minds. For your mobility needs, we offer the rest of our model lineup which we assure you are up to global standards,” said HCPI in the statement.

Several customers who saw HCPI’s post, however, were none too pleased with the company’s statement. Some customers who have been waiting for several months were disappointed with how Honda has been dealing with the situation. There were also several others who commented that suggesting customers get another model from the lineup is detrimental to the customer’s preference as they have already made up their minds for the all-new HR-V.

On the other hand, some were understanding of HCPI’s situation, given that the parts shortage is still affecting automakers left and right. Combined with the fact that the pandemic is still happening, it’s a given that car production will continue to adjust based on the availability of parts, manpower, and demand.

With HCPI launching the new top-of-the-line HR-V RS at the recently concluded 8th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS), the long lines (and demand) for the HR-V will continue to grow. But with the parts shortage issue still affecting the automaker, customers who truly want to get Honda’s latest crossover will have to patiently wait or get an entirely different model from another company.
