High Mountain: GWM PH to to launch Alphard-style luxury van
GWM PH will also launching the Wey Gaoshan MPV later this year

It looks like GMW Philippines has plenty in store later this year. This comes after GWM distributor Luxuriant Automotive Group Inc (LAGI) is set to debut the Wey Gaoshan luxury MPV.
First revealed last year, the luxury MPV from GWM comes from the company’s Wey sub-brand that focuses on premium crossovers, SUVs, and MPVs based on Haval models. Think of it as the equivalent of Toyota’s Lexus brand.
Back to the luxury MPV itself, the Wey Gaoshan features a sleek and high-end design that appears to have been inspired by the Toyota Alphard. Once it arrives here, the Wey Gaoshan is set to take on not only the Alphard but also the GAC M8 luxury MPV.

The exact specifications have yet to be revealed. However, a quick check at what the People’s Republic gets has given us a good idea of what to expect. For starters, the luxury MPV benefits from electrification and comes with a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine which means it will benefit from the China-AFTA tax break.
More importantly, it benefits from a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) system that consists of a pair of electric motors and a ternary lithium battery pack that’s rated for either 37.96 kWh or 44.28 kWh, depending on the variant. With both the turbocharged engine and PHEV system in play, the Gaoshan has a total system output of up to 487 PS and 762 Nm of torque. It also boasts an electric range between 140 to 170 km.

Inside, the MPV comes with captain seats that feature power adjustability, heated/ventilated functions, power ottomans, and a starlight ceiling. Nappa leather seats are available as an option while foldable tray tables for the second-row occupants provide extra comfort for those who need to work on the go.
With the Wey Gaoshan set to make a mark in the luxury MPV segment, we will certainly keep our eyes peeled for any new announcements (or leaks) about the upcoming vehicle.
