Here's the 2022 Toyota Avanza before you're supposed to see it
The all-new Toyota Avanza will be revealed at this year's Gaikindo Indonesia Int

A few weeks ago, leaked photos of the all-new Toyota Avanza made their way to the internet. Seen in the top-of-the-line Veloz variant, the MPV gets a stylish makeover that features a sleeker exterior, a more upscale cabin, and more premium features.
But some have been asking: what will the standard Avanza look like? Wonder no more as new photos of the all-new MPV have leaked online ahead of its launch. Best of all, there's no camouflage hiding the new design.
Similar to the outgoing model, the new Avanza will look slightly different compared to the range-topping Veloz. For starters, it comes with a large front grille with horizontal slats, which is different from the honeycomb-like design we saw in the Veloz. Then there's the front bumper and foglight bezels which have been toned down for the standard MPV.

The rear of the Avanza is also quite different from the Veloz. Instead of full-width taillights, the new Avanza makes use of two separate units. The rear bumper is simpler too and doesn't come with a diffuser.
There are no pictures yet of Avanza's new cabin. However, we won't be surprised if it will look similar to the one in the Veloz. But do expect it to be a bit toned down and come with less equipment. Still, we can expect the MPV to come with a touchscreen infotainment system, a new digital air-conditioning/climate control panel, an updated instrument panel, and new seats.
It has been previously reported that the new Avanza will sit on the new Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA), an extension of the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA). This could mean that the next-generation MPV will switch from a ladder-frame rear-wheel drive (RWD) design to a unibody front-wheel-drive layout.
Engine options for the 2022 Avanza will supposedly consist of a 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbo and a 1.2-liter naturally-aspirated inline-four. The former will reportedly make 98 PS with 140 Nm of torque, while the latter could produce 88 PS with 113 Nm of torque.
Since the new Avanza might be switching to FWD, there is also the possibility of it using Vios engines. Should this be true, the four-speed automatic might be retired in favor of a CVT. The five-speed manual will likely be carried over.
Excited about the global reveal of the all-new Avanza? Toyota will hold its official debut at this year's Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) on November 11, 2021.
