GWM Ora 5 debuts in SE Asia with new HEV powertrain
GWM unveils Ora 5 in Thailand, presented with HEV, EV, and pure ICE powertrains

GWM is out to flex its capability to build vehicles that suit different markets and powertrain preferences.
Making its regional debut is the GWM Ora 5, which was presented with multiple powertrain variants to fit different lifestyles and driving habits.

The EV version was already revealed in China last year, but the HEV version is made its world premiere in Thailand. GWM did not specify things such as engine size and power outputs just yet, but the brand says the Ora 5 HEV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds, and delivers over 1,000 kilometers of range on a single tank.
Furthermore, the Ora 5 HEV has a 2-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT) that intelligently switches between an “Eco Gear” for cruising and a “Power Gear” when performance is needed.

GWM also presented the EV version of the Ora 5 for the first time in the ASEAN region during the launch, which offers 520 kilometers of range from its 58.3 kWh battery, with charging from 30% to 80% achieved in just 20 minutes. Its 15-in-1 electric drive system delivers 150 kW of power, taking the vehicle from 0-100 km/h in 7.5 seconds.
After the regional launch, GWM says they are set to offer the model across six continents: Europe, Australia, the Middle East, Latin America, and Africa.
