Gordon Murray S1 LM is the McLaren F1 reborn
Gordon Murray comes up with a modern homage to the McLaren F1

Gordon Murray has basically done an automotive equivalent of a greatest hits remastered album with his latest creation.
It’s been 30 years since the legend of Gordon Murray’s masterpiece, the McLaren F1, was born in the 24 hours of Le Mans. The 90s supercar was never meant to go racing, but with minimal modifications, the F1 GTR placed 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th overall on its very first time at the Circuit de la Sarthe.

And now for the 2025 Monterey Car Week, Gordon Murray’s newly minted company called GMSV (Gordon Murray Special Vehicles) revealed what’s basically a resurrected version of the McLaren F1 called the S1 LM – a road legal homage built for one very special customer.

The S1 LM looks a lot like the original F1, but with modern twists especially for the headlights and taillights. The rest is a reinterpretation of the OG such as the roof scoop and the Inconel exhaust, as well as the three-seater layout inside.

Likewise, the S1 LM receives naturally aspirated V12 power, but this time from Cosworth. The standard 4.0-liter V12 from the T.50 and T.50s was stroked up to 4.3 liters, and now produces over 700 horsepower while revving up to 12,000 rpm. The suspension has likewise been tweaked for sharper handling response, but still remains refined for use on public roads.

The S1 LM at Monterey Car Week is still a show car though, as the fully built unit is still set to be finished by next year. The reimagined model is part of GMSV’s offerings in making low volume, ultra-rare supercars, which also caters to making bespoke versions with underpinnings based on Gordon Murray Automotive’s production cars such as the T.50 and T.50s.
