Geely Premium: UAAGI to take on Lynk & Co for PH market
UAAGI will soon have Lynk & Co under its brand portfolio

Remember when we reported last year just before the holidays that Lynk & Co is looking to set up a distributorship in the Philippines?
Well, it seems there may be some interesting developments along that front, but not in the way many expected.
The Lynk & Co brand is Geely's luxury marque that offers both ICE and EV models. However, instead of Geely distributor Sojitz G Auto Philippines (SGAP) handling Lynk & Co in the country, it seems the brand went to another automotive group: United Asia Automotive Group, Inc. or UAAGI.
While we had known about this for a while, top UAAGI management asked us to hold off on it. The reason is because negotiations were still ongoing at the time. Now it seems that may have been concluded.

Lynk & Co has put up a new Philippine Facebook page that has been posting teaser images for the past several days, and now it's official. UAAGI has presented a new management team that will lead the brands forward. They have hired some very experienced executives who were formerly of TCCCI such as Lyn Buena to head up marketing for the brand. As to how the structure will be with the three brands, we have yet to confirm.

UAAGI is making a big play to expand this year with Lynk & Co. UAAGI is a company that is very experienced (and successful) in bringing Chinese brands into the country, so it's only logical to explore the potential of a more premium brand. In addition, Lynk & Co has several EV models that UAAGI can bring here. So yes, it looks like Geely's premium brand may be under the same company that handles Foton and Chery.
With MIAS 2024 just several months away, we're looking forward to seeing how UAAGI will make its presence felt at the annual auto show. And there are also supposed plans to bring back BAIC, but there is no official word on that yet.
