Geely launches the FX11...and it may replace a local model
This maybe the next iteration of the Coolray or Azkarra for our local market

Could we be looking at the new Geely Coolray? Or the next Azkarra? With Geely and Volvo co-developing the CMA platform, the automaker has unveiled the FX11 SUV or Xingyao in China and they are targeting the month of August for the launch.

According to numerous reports, the SUV will incorporate the GEEA 2.0 electrical architecture and will open up the vehicle to Level 2 autonomous driving. The FX11 will also have other features based on the CMA 1.5 platform.

The SUV will mainly be powered by a 1.5-liter hybrid engine. The engine will employ supercharging and direct injection producing 317 PS. There will also be a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine model. This will be mated to a Aisin 8-speed automatic transmission and can pump out 238 PS and 380 Nm of torque. The 1.5 hybrid engine will be a part of the Leishin Power line and may replace the current 1.5 TD engines while the 2.0 variant will still ba carry over from the Xingyue L model.

The FX11 may replace the Geely Boyue in certain markets. For our market, it may be the next iteration of the Coolray or the bigger Azkarra. Still drawing cues from the Starburst concept, the SUV will still employ the “Expanding Cosmos” design philosophy. The new SUV will have a massive grille and LED tearing down the sides of its face. This inspiration is also shown in the rear as the taillights will also taper on the sides towards the rear bumper.

With the new SUV scheduled to debut in August at the Chengdu Motor Show, it is on track to go on sale later this year. Geely is looking to once again hype things up with this model if they decide to replace either the Coolray or Azkarra locally.
