Geely announces they have taken over PH operations from Sojitz
Geely is set to enter a new chapter of operations in the Philippines.

Yesterday, Sojitz G Auto Philippines (SGAP) announced they will close the Geely North EDSA dealership starting July 31, 2024. Serving as the company's flagship location, the decision to close it down came to us as a surprise. Fast forward to today, and we find out the reason behind it.
Sojitz G Auto Philippines (SGAP) and Geely Automotive International Corporation (GAIC) recently announced the official handover of Geely Philippines' operations to GAIC, effective July 2024. The transition, which started last July 1, 2024, highlights the brand's management change moving forward.
Since 2019, SGAP served as Geely's partner in the Philippines as it expanded the brand's presence in the country and its market share. SGAP initially launched the Coolray and Azkarra crossover SUVs. It was then joined by the Okavango MPV and was followed by the Emgrand sedan. SGAP also put up nearly 40 dealerships in the country since the brand's arrival in 2019.
For GAIC, the partnership with SGAP has been pivotal in introducing and growing the Geely brand in the Philippine market. Widespread consumer adoption, along with the brand's continued presence in the country, reflects the success and camaraderie in our collaboration. Geely and Sojitz G Auto Philippines jointly announced a strategic shift today.
“We are proud of our achievements with Geely. Now that we are handing the business over to GAIC, we are confident in their ability to elevate the brand. We express our most profound gratitude to our valued customers, esteemed dealer partners, and industrious employees and anticipate Geely’s continued success in the Philippines,” said SGAP in a company statement.
Despite SGAP turning over Geely Philippines to GAIC, all Geely dealers in the country will continue to operate and invite customers to experience the brand.
“We extend our utmost appreciation for the successful experience with Sojitz G Auto Philippines, which has greatly contributed to Geely’s growth in the country. We are thrilled to assume Geely’s operations with continuous focus and passions. By leveraging our global strengths, we will introduce products meeting Filipino consumers’ needs. We commit to a seamless transition and continuing SGAP’s legacy of excellence,” said GAIC in a statement.
With GAIC taking over Geely Philippines, we will be keeping a close eye on what the automaker will do in the coming months.
