GAC GS3 Emzoom gets 5-star ASEAN NCAP rating
GAC GS3 Emzoom awarded maximum five-star safety rating by ASEAN NCAP

There’s no other way around it; the GAC GS3 Emzoom has impressed us in terms of value, performance, and features, and segment impact. These are the reasons why the crossover was Autoindustriya.com’s Car of the Year for 2023.
Now that it’s been selling well in the country, the GAC GS3 Emzoom has once again impressed us in a test we wouldn’t really perform for ourselves – Safety. The ASEAN New Car Assessment Program or ASEAN NCAP has awarded the GAC GS3 Emzoom a maximum five-star safety rating after posting impressive results in the more stringent 2021-2025 assessment protocol.
The test covered four assessment domains - the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) which covers 40 points of the overall score, and Child Occupant Protection (COP), Safety Assist (SA) and Motorcyclist Safety (MS) that contributes 20 points each.
Of note, these categories were mandated by the ASEAN NCAP regulations but the GAC GS3 Emzoom’s safety test was done in the China Automotive Engineering Research Institute (CAERI).
In terms of AOP which is composed of frontal impact, side-impact, and head protection technology, the GS3 Emzoom scored 36.60 out of a possible 40 points.
Meanwhile, for child occupant protection, the GS3 Emzoom scored 16.43 out of 20 as it impressed in the dynamic tests, plus the child restraint and detection systems.
Safety features that include advanced driver assist systems enabled the GS3 Emzoom to score 17.86 out of 20 in the criteria for standard safety assists, where effective braking and avoidance, seatbelt reminders, autonomous emergency braking, and advanced safety assist technologies were assessed.
Lastly, motorcycle safety assessments considered things like blind spot monitoring and auto high beam which both come as an optional equipment to the Emzoom. This is where the crossover garnered 17.50 out of a possible 20 points. Overall, the GAC GS3 Emzoom got a total score of 88.39 points, clearly worthy of a 5-star rating.
So if you’re looking for a crossover as your next vehicle, then you’d be glad to know the GAC GS3 Emzoom is one of the safest cars in the market today.
