GAC Aion Hyper GT is one sleek EV with scissor doors
The Aion Hyper GT combines futuristic looks with high-tech gizmos and an all-electric powertrain

If GAC Motor Philippines plans to offer electric vehicles (EVs) in the country soon, we're hoping they will bring this.
This is the Aion Hyper GT by GAC Motor, and it was just launched in the People's Republic. Featuring a sleek exterior design, scissor doors, and an electric powertrain that gives it a range of over 700 km on a full charge, this high-tech EV by GAC sub-brand Aion looks and feels cutting edge.

Despite being a four-door, the designers at Aion gave the Hyper GT a coupe-like shape. With a relatively long hood and a sloping roofline, the swoopy design of the EV gives it a distinct aerodynamic shape. It also comes with flush door handles, stylish alloy wheels, and an active rear spoiler that delivers extra downforce at high speeds.
But it is perhaps the scissor doors that will immediately grab everyone's attention. Whereas you'll most likely see it on supercars or other exotics, Aion was able to incorporate it into the Hyper GT's design. Unfortunately, the scissor doors are reserved only for the driver and front passenger. Size-wise, the Aion Hyper GT measures 4886mm long, 1885mm wide, 1449mm tall, and has a 2920mm wheelbase.

Hop inside the Hyper GT and the interior has a minimalist and futuristic design. At the center sits a huge 14.6-inch floating touchscreen which houses most of the vehicle's controls. Below that are two wireless charging pads for smartphones along with several storage spaces to keep small items. The driver, meanwhile, gets a three-spoke steering wheel and an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster.
Other key features present inside the Aion Hyper GT include full-grain leather seats, a Dolby Atmos sound system with 23 speakers, LED ambient lighting, wood trim pieces, and high-quality soft-touch materials.

Over to its electric powertrain, the Aion Hyper GT is available with several options. The base model has a single electric motor driving the rear wheels that produce 245 PS and 355 Nm of torque. Power is then provided by a 60 kWh battery pack which gives it a range of 560 km and a 0 – 100 km/h time of 6.5 seconds. It can also be fitted with a bigger 70 kWh battery pack that increases its range to 600 km.
The most powerful version gets an electric motor that generates 340 PS and 430 Nm of torque. It also gets the biggest battery that's rated at 80 kWh which translates to a range of 710 km on a full charge. 0 – 100 km/h is easily achieved in 4.9 seconds.

The Aion Hyper GT will go on sale in China soon and will feature battery-swap technology to help customers do away with recharging the battery should they choose to do so. And with a price range of CNY 219,990 to CNY 339,990 (around PHP 1.685 million to PHP 2.604 million), the GAC Aion Hyper GT looks to be quite the bargain.
