First units of Volkswagen I.D. Buzz have rolled off the factory
The Volkswagen Kombi is coming back as a zero-emissions van

It won’t be long before Volkswagen reveals its latest electric vehicle (EV). But instead of another electrified crossover, the Wolfsburg-based automaker will soon launch the I.D. Buzz electric van.
First revealed in concept form five years ago, Volkswagen CEO Herbert Diess confirmed that the production version will make its global debut on March 9, 2022. With that, we’re just about a month away before it’s fully revealed.
But before that, Volkswagen needs to make several units of the upcoming EV. As if by coincidence, the automaker has completed a couple of pre-production units.

In a recent Twitter post, Volkswagen shared a teaser video of two pre-production examples of the I.D. Buzz leaving a factory. Despite the special camo livery still hiding most of its body, it’s clear that the EV will remain faithful to the concept’s original design. From the distinct LED headlights, bold VW badge, and low-slung grille, the I.D. Buzz is both stylish and funky.
We don’t get to see much of the EV’s rear end. But a quick snippet shows it will have a huge tailgate, an equally-massive rear window, and a pair of sleek LED taillights connected by an LED lightbar.
Interior pictures have yet to be revealed. Since it has no internal combustion engine, it could have a lounge-like interior and a relatively flat floor, ensuring maximum cabin space.

As far as power output is concerned, it’s rumored that the I.D. Buzz could come with either a single or dual-motor setup. Some reports even say that a 400 PS variant with all-wheel drive could be available. When paired with the largest battery pack, the I.D. Buzz will supposedly have a range of 550 km.
With the global launch just weeks away, we certainly cannot wait for Volkswagen to fully unveil the I.D. Buzz in March.
