First 5-km of NLEX Connector is toll-free (for now)

After being inaugurated by President “Bong Bong” Marcos Jr., the newly-opened NLEX Connector from Caloocan to Espana is now officially open to motorists. What’s better is that the first 5 km section is toll-free for now.

“We are offering free access for a limited period, so motorists can experience for themselves the convenience of using the NLEX Connector,” said J. Luigi L. Bautista, president of NLEX Corporation.

With the 5-km segment now available to motorists, NLEX Corporation said they anticipate the influx of motorists during Holy Week. The tollway operator says the NLEX Connector will cater to all kinds of vehicle classifications.

However, the management wishes to remind motorists that they will strictly enforce a 60 km/h speed limit for trucks. Meanwhile, an 80 km/h speed limit will be imposed on private vehicles, buses, as well as motorcycles with 400cc displacements and above.

As to when the tollway operator will begin collecting toll fees, NLEX Corporation said that they will issue another announcement regarding that matter.

The first section of the NLEX Connector is expected to ease traffic along España Boulevard, Abad Santos Avenue, Rizal Avenue, and Lacson Avenue. It will also provide easier access to several areas including the University Belt, as well as benefit truckers and logistic companies as cargo vehicles will have 24/7 access to this elevated expressway.

With NLEX Connector toll-free at the moment, those that need to get to their destinations via the newly-opened expressway need not worry about having to pay a single centavo to access the elevated roadway.
