Facelifted Peugeot 5008 debuts for PHP 2.260 million
2022 Peugeot 5008 for PH market now sourced from Malaysia, and it looks better than ever

With Peugeot Philippines now under new management, the French automaker is looking at adding more locations in the country. More importantly, Peugeot also wants to refresh its vehicle lineup in the Philippines.
The first model that’s now available in the country is the 2022 Peugeot 5008. Now sourced from the company’s Gurun plant in Malaysia, the seven-seater crossover gets a restyled front end, a more stylish interior, as well as new high-tech features.

Starting with its exterior, the 5008 gets new ‘fang-shaped’ LED daytime running lights that extend down to the bumper. Speaking of bumpers, the crossover also gets larger side air intakes along with a revised lower lip. Last but not least is a new frameless grille that extends underneath the headlights.
While the front gets noticeable changes, the rear gets a more subtle revision. It gets new full LED taillights with slimmer three-claw lighting signatures, eye-catching sequential LED turn signals, and a smoked finish for a more sophisticated look. Rounding up the exterior changes are the 18-inch alloy wheels.

Over to the cabin, and the 5008 gets a host of upgrades. There’s a new 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a larger 10-inch touchscreen that replaces the smaller 8-inch display, and an updated steering wheel complete with paddle shifters. Carried over from the pre-facelift version are the toggle switches on the dashboard which provide a faster (and more stylish) way of managing cabin controls.
Other features available include power-adjustable front seats, full-leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, rear A/C vents, wireless phone charging, power tailgate, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and LED ambient lighting.
As before, the 5008 features three rows of seats - making it a proper seven-seater. However, the middle row features three-individual and fully-adjustable seats that can also be folded flat. The third-row seats can also be fully folded flat or removed to allow more cargo space.

With the third-row seats folded, Peugeot says it can carry 780 liters (or 0.78 cubic meters) worth of luggage. Should both the second and third-row seats be folded flat, cargo space expands to a generous 1,980 liters (or 1.98 cubic meters).
Should you have items as long as 3.2 meters, the front passenger seat can be tipped forward to make additional room.
The Peugeot's generous cargo space was measured using the VDA method, aka the Verband der Automobilindustrie. Cargo space using the VDA method is determined by filling the load space with 'liter' blocks that each measure 200mmx100mmx50mm. The blocks are then counted and the numerical result is converted into cubic meters (or liters).
Under the hood is a 1.6-liter turbocharged inline-four. It makes 165 PS at 6000 rpm along with 245 Nm of torque at 1400 - 4000 rpm. Power is then sent to the front wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission with manual select.

When it comes to safety, the 5008 has plenty available. It gets six airbags, anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, brake assist, hill-start assist, hill-descent control, front and rear parking sensors, a reverse camera, tire pressure monitoring system, electronic stability control, and traction control. It also has intelligent driver aids like blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, and driver attention alert.
The 2022 Peugeot 5008 is now available in all authorized dealerships in the country and retails for PHP 2,260,000.
