'Express lane' for expired registrations to be set up by LTO
Priority lanes inside LTO for expired registration renewals

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) announced that it will be setting up express lanes or priority lanes in its offices that are exclusive for those who will be renewing their vehicle’s expired registration.
This is in line with the agency’s “Oplan Balik Rehistro, Be Road Ready” program after the agency reported that there are close to 25 million (65%) vehicles that have an expired or delinquent registration for 1 or more years. This also translated to a PHP 37 billion lost income for LTO.
“There’s a huge penalty if you’re apprehended with an expired registration. That is why we are reaching out to the delinquent motor vehicle owners in order for them to avoid these stiff penalties and this includes providing priority lanes for them in all our district and extension offices,” said LTO Assistant Secretary, Atty. Vigor Mendoza II.

The LTO has also been conducting aggressive law enforcement operations through the “No Registration, No Travel” policy wherein apprehended motor vehicles with expired registrations are sanctioned with stiff penalties that include a PHP 10,000 penalty.
Hundreds of motor vehicles were already impounded as a result of the nationwide operations.
Aside from this program, Mendoza earlier ordered the conduct of “One Stop Shop/Service Caravan/Outreach Program” which is meant to bring the LTO offices, particularly the registration of delinquent motor vehicles, closer to the people.
“We are implementing programs to reach out to our clients so that they will be encouraged to register their motor vehicles. We at LTO, as much as possible, want to avoid apprehending motorists because of the high amount of penalties,” added Mendoza.
“So I am appealing to all motor vehicle owners with expired registrations to take advantage of these programs. These are all designed to make our services comfortable for you and at the same time show that your government cares".
