Expect heavy traffic along Katipunan Ave due to Ateneo entrance exam

Motorists who frequently travel along Katipunan Avenue in Quezon City, be ready for heavy traffic as Ateneo De Manila University (ADMU) holds its entrance examination this coming weekend.

From October 29 to October 30, 2022, the Ateneo College Entrance Test (ACET) will take place at the ADMU's Loyola Heights campus in Quezon City. With applicants set to flock to the university this weekend, motorists are advised to take alternate routes as well as plan their trips accordingly due to the expected increase in vehicles and applicants in the area.

According to the ADMU's Traffic Bulletin, there will be two college entrance tests on Saturday and Sunday. The first test will take place between 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM while the other test will happen from 1:30 PM to 6:30 PM.

Around 1,800 examinees are expected to take part in both the morning and afternoon tests on Saturday while 1,900 applicants are expected to take both tests on Sunday.

The MMDA has yet to release possible re-routing schemes due to the ACET. However, the Marikina City Interagency Traffic Task Force has advised motorists passing through Bonifacio Avenue heading towards Aurora Avenue in Quezon City to expect heavy traffic this coming weekend.

As an alternate route, the City of Marikina has advised motorists to take the Diosdado Macapagal Bridge near SM Marikina along Marcos Highway or FVR Road near Industrial Valley in order to avoid traffic build-up near Katipunan. They also suggested motorists traveling along Bonifacio Avenue turn left towards the Riverbanks Center in order to get to FVR Road and head to their destinations.

With the ACET coinciding with the upcoming long weekend holiday, those that usually take Katipunan Avenue might want to find alternate routes in going to their destinations. Otherwise, they might have to endure heavy traffic near ADMU.
