Every Peugeot vehicle in 2023 will be electrified

Peugeot is making big strides when it comes to electrification. After releasing the updated e-208 and the all-new 408, the French automaker is further expanding its plans to electrify its vehicle lineup.

During E-Lion Day, Peugeot's presscon about its plans for the future, the automaker announced that they are on track to deliver bold targets for electrification. In 2023, every model in the Peugeot lineup will be electrified. Then in 2025, Peugeot will have 100% electric offerings. Finally, 100% of Peugeots sold in Europe will be 100% electric come 2030.

For Linda Jackson, CEO of Peugeot, the E-Lion Project will be the guiding philosophy for the brand as it heads towards building the next-generation vehicles that will see the brand become more eco-friendly as a whole.

“E-Lion Project will define Peugeot’s strategy as an EV brand and ensure we stay connected to the pulse of society to deliver mobility that lives up to our brand values,” said Jackson.

Starting this year, Peugeot will be introducing its new hybrid technology with mild-hybrid 48V (MHEV) tech that will be rolled out in the 208, 2008, 308, 3008, 5008, and 408. The Peugeot Hybrid 48V system consists of a new-generation 100 PS or 136 PS PureTech gasoline engine, coupled to a 6-speed electrified dual-clutch gearbox (E-DCS6) which incorporates a 21 kW electric motor.

Thanks to a battery that recharges while driving, this technology offers increased low-end torque and a 15% reduction in fuel consumption (from 126g of CO2/km in 3008). In urban driving, a C-segment SUV equipped with a hybrid system can thus operate more than 50% of the time in 100% zero-emission electric mode. It also allows you to drive in zero-emission mode in urban use.

With Peugeot setting its sights on making electrified vehicles more readily available this year, the brand is on its way to becoming more eco-friendly as it plans to have EV versions of its models by 2025. The only question now is, will the hybrid offerings arrive here in PH as well?
