Emgrand: So this is what Geely PH has planned for 2022
Will the Emgrand be Geely's first sedan model in the country?

For just over two years Geely distributor Sojitz G Auto Philippines (SGAP) has only offered crossovers and an MPV in the country. From the Coolray, Azkarra, and the Okavango, all of Geely's products are five-door, high-riding models.
All well and good, but what Geely also needs is a B-segment sedan that could go up against the likes of the Toyota Vios, Honda City, and Nissan Almera. Luckily for us, SGAP has just released a teaser of an all-new vehicle that's set to be launched soon.

Geely has yet to say what the vehicle will be, but based on what it looks like, it appears that Geely's latest model will be the Emgrand. First launched in China back in August 2021, the four-door sedan is now on its fourth generation and sits on the same B-segment Modular Architecture as the Geely Coolray.
The design of the Emgrand appears to have been inspired by the Preface sedan and Xingyue L crossover. It gets a sleek front fascia that consists of bold headlights and a stylish front grille. It also comes with full-width LED taillights and distinct alloy wheels.

As for the cabin, the Emgrand gets a high-tech dashboard that features a digital instrument panel, a wide touchscreen infotainment system, and digital automatic climate control. Also worth mentioning is the brightly-colored trim which spruces up the Emgrand's interior. We're hoping that this will be standard on PH-spec models.
We're not expecting to find a turbocharged engine under the hood of the Emgrand. Instead, it's powered by a naturally-aspirated 1.5-liter inline-four that makes 114 PS and 147 Nm of torque. Power is then sent to the front wheels via a CVT.

SGAP is not yet saying whether the new model they will be releasing is in fact the all-new Emgrand. But given its similar looks and design, we're almost certain it's Geely's latest four-door B-segment sedan.
If ever Geely finds a way to price it competitively, it might give other sedans in the market a run for their money.
