Electrified Twinning: Suzuki's Zenix is the Invicto MPV

If the GR86 and BRZ are the ToyoBaru twins, India has a ToyoZuki pair.

Maruti Suzuki has launched their newest flagship 7-seater called the Invicto. And yes, for all intents and purposes, it basically shares everything with the Innova Hycross / Zenix from Toyota, albeit with some minor differences.

It gets a different design but a similarly shaped grille to accommodate Suzuki's S badge along with slightly tweaked front bumper and skid plates. Along with the unique badges, the Invicto has its own set of 17-inch alloys to complete the exterior look.

Inside, the Invicto and the Innova Hycross / Zenix's similarities continue. While the Toyota gets a black and brown theme with silver accents, the Suzuki goes for an all-black affair with champagne gold accents. It's also offered with a choice of seven or eight-seater configuration.

Cabin features include a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a power driver's seat, dual-zone climate control, ventilated front seats, and a 7-inch digital instrument cluster. The body gets a 360-degree camera, a panoramic sunroof with ambient lighting, and a power tailgate.

Also, more than 40 Suzuki Connect features are accessible in the Invicto. Smartwatch connectivity, remote functions, and vehicle tracking are just some of the things you can do with the Invicto's intelligent systems.

Under the hood, the all-new Invicto gets the Innova Hycross / Zenix's 2.0-liter hybrid powertrain that produces a combined 184 PS. The power unit is mated to an e-CVT transmission that makes the Invicto Suzuki's first hybrid-only and automatic-only model in India.

As for its safety features, six airbags come standard along with ABS, EPB, stability control and hill start assist. Of note, the Suzuki Invicto does not have Toyota's Safety Sense in its list of advanced driving assists.

While the Invicto is set to compete with the Innova Hycross in India, it remains to be seen if Suzuki will do the same in the Philippines. But since SPH is getting units from India, it could be a possibility. What matters more is how will they price it against its own twin, as Toyota has the upper hand in benefitting from AFTA.
