Electric BWM iX M60 packs over 600HP, 1000 Nm torque
BMW reveals more powerful iX M60 with 619 horsepower, 1015 Nm torque

BMW's M division is already preparing for an electric future. It started with the i4 M50, the first electric BMW model to don the M badge. Then there's the XM concept; it may be a concept, but a production model is in the works. But it seems the German marque now has something for customers that want a fast electric crossover – the iX M60.

On the outside, there's hardly any difference between the M60 and the standard iX. The only visual upgrades are the titanium bronze accents on the exterior trim, the M logos all around, and the blue M-branded brake calipers. Customers can also spec the iX M60 with optional 22-inch wheels, while 21-inch units come standard. It's the same story for the interior of the vehicle. In the performance department, however, it's a completely different story.

The iX M60 uses two electric motors (one on each axle), similar to the xDrive50, and a 111.5-kWh battery pack. Combined output is rated at 455 kW or 619 horsepower, making it one of the most powerful electric M cars to date. However, it's the torque figure that surprised us – 1015 Nm in Sport Mode and 1100 Nm with launch control activated.

As a result of the power increase, the iX now accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds, while the top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h. According to BMW, the M60 has an electric driving of up to 566 km via the WLTP test cycle. It also has a maximum charging rate of 250kW, meaning it only takes 36 minutes to recharge to 80% using a fast charging system.

To handle the added power, BMW fitted the iX M60 with M-specific adaptive dual-axle air suspension as standard, together with electronically controlled dampers. Rear-wheel steering is also standard for this electric M-branded crossover.
BMW Philippines appears to have plans on launching the iX here in the country as the model is listed on their website. That said, we hope they decide to offer the more powerful M60 locally.
