EDSA Flyover along Roxas Blvd partially closed due to road works

Motorists who frequently take the EDSA Flyover along Roxas Boulevard will have to grin and bear it for the next several weeks. This comes after the Department of Public Works & Highways (DPWH) started reblocking works along the southbound & northbound portions of the flyover.

Work officially began last April 5 and will see the reblocking of both the southbound & northbound bridge approaches of the flyover. The repair works along the bridge approach will include concreting, reblocking, asphalt overlay, and application of thermoplastic pavements.

While the flyover isn't closed to vehicles, the partial closure has caused traffic buildup in the area, particularly those heading towards Manila and Paranaque/Cavite. That's because one lane will remain passable to motorists to facilitate traffic flow in the area. The repairs will also be done one lane at a time to lessen traffic congestion. The DPWH expects to finish work on the bridge approaches on April 30.

This is not the first time the flyover had to be closed to traffic. Back in November 2023, the DPWH had to close both directions of the infrastructure, causing heavy traffic in the area as only the service roads were open.

Aside from the EDSA Flyover, the DPWH is also conducting road repairs along a northbound section of Roxas Boulevard. According to the agency, they are conducting repair works on damaged paved roads in Pasay City just after Lourdes Street before Gardens By the Bay Residences and in Manila from Remedios Street to Sands Residences. Work on the damaged paved roads will be completed after 150 calendar days.

With the DPWH busy in both directions of Roxas Boulevard, motorists are advised to take alternate routes to get to their destinations quicker and without hassle.
