DPWH: Panguil Bay Bridge is 73% complete

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is inching closer to completing construction work on the longest sea-crossing bridge in Northern Mindanao.

From 69% back in May, DPWH Senior Undersecretary Emil K. Sadain said the Panguil Bay Bridge is now 73% complete. It is nearing the next phase of construction where both approaches from Tangub City, Misamis Occidental, and Tubod, Lanao del Norte will meet in the extra-dosed type center main bridge.

“With the project target to achieve 86 percent toward the end of this year 2023 and full completion by first half of year 2024, over 400 manpower are deployed on-site working round the clock 24/7”, said Senior Undersecretary Sadain.

The project is under the joint venture group of contractors composed of Namkwang Engineering & Construction Corp together with Gumgwang Construction Co., Ltd and Kukdong Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd.

DPWH started the PHP 7.37 billion project back in 2020 to improve inter-island connectivity in the provinces of Lanao del Norte and Misamis Occidental. From 2.5 hours using a RoRo vessel, the bridge aims to cut down travel to just 7 minutes.
