DOTr: Perpetual license revocation to counterflowing driver on Skyway
This could have ended in tragedy

During the wee hours of August 9, 2025, an incident of a counterflowing vehicle along Skyway between Nichols and Bicutan almost ended in tragedy had officers not acted swiftly.
For the Department of Transportation (DOTr), drivers like these should no longer be allowed to get behind the wheel.

Transportation Secretary, Vince Dizon, has issued a directive to the Land Transportation Office (LTO), ordering the perpetual revocation of the driver’s license of the motorist who drove against traffic on the elevated expressway. Citing the immense risk posed to other motorists, Dizon stated that a mere license suspension is an insufficient penalty for such a dangerous offense.
“Hindi pu-puwede na suspendido lang ang lisensiya ng driver na ito dahil kitang kita naman sa CCTV footage na inilagay niya sa peligro ang buhay ng mga driver ng kasalubong niyang sasakyan. Ipinag-utos ko na i-revoke na nang tuluyan ang driver’s license ng pasaway na driver na ito nang hindi na pamarisan ang reckless driving niya”, said Dizon.
(This driver’s license cannot be merely suspended. It is clear from the CCTV footage that he put the lives of oncoming motorists in grave danger. I have ordered the permanent revocation of this unruly person’s driver’s license to ensure that his reckless driving is not repeated by others.)
Not too long ago, a motorcycle rider entered Skyway Stage 3 from an unguarded portion of NLEX Balintawak, went against traffic (counterflow), and ended in tragedy.
