DOTr: Parts of Skyway 3 will be toll-free during EDSA rehab
DOTr confirms that parts of Skyway 3 will be toll-free in light of the upcoming EDSA rehab starting June 13, 2025

With the EDSA rehabilitation project set to begin on June 13, 2025, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) have already announced that motorists will have to brace for heavier traffic.
But with EDSA serving as a major thoroughfare for Metro Manila motorists, what other alternate routes can they take besides C-5, Osmena Highway, and Roxas Boulevard? DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon announced last week that part of their traffic management measures once the EDSA rebuild begins is to make parts of Skyway 3 toll-free.
Now, Dizon has officially confirmed that portions of the elevated toll road will be toll-free to motorists. While the Transportation Secretary has yet to reveal the exact details, he did share that sections of Skyway 3 will be toll-free initially by July or by August in light of the rehabilitation of EDSA.
The exact reason why the segments of the elevated toll road will only be toll-free starting in July or August has yet to be revealed. However, Department of Public Works & Highways (DPWH) Secretary Manuel Bonoan shared that they will only begin preparation works along EDSA on June 13, 2025. A week after preparation works are done, the DPWH will start digging up the road, which will first begin from the section of Pasay to Guadalupe in both directions.
Despite the upcoming roadworks along EDSA, Transportation Secretary Dizon reiterated that operations of the EDSA Busway will continue amid the rehabilitation works. He also mentioned that they will increase the number of buses to accommodate the anticipated rise in use during the repair works.
