Did Toyota just confirm the all-new Innova will go hybrid?

Toyota has just released another teaser for the all-new Innova. While we already saw a glimpse of what it will eventually look like, Toyota's latest teaser for the popular MPV may have given hints that it's joining the roster of the manufacturer's electrified vehicles.

Based on the new teaser photo, Toyota claims that “The New Energy is Coming”. More importantly, the mysterious vehicle comes with the brand's signature “Hybrid” badge on the front fender. Combined with last month's teaser photo of the all-new MPV, the 2023 Toyota Innova could be offered in hybrid form.

While no official details about its powertrain have been confirmed yet, there are rumors going around that the 2023 Innova will drop its turbo-diesel engine in favor of an electrified 2.0-liter motor. Moreover, the next-generation Innova will supposedly switch from a body-on-frame rear-wheel drive (RWD) platform to a more passenger-friendly unibody front-wheel drive (FWD) layout.

Toyota has yet to say when will they actually launch the 2023 Innova. But since the automaker released another teaser image, perhaps Toyota will hold its global debut sometime this November. Combined with the fact that it will reportedly switch to a unibody platform, we might also see the MPV become more upscale and come with more intelligent safety systems like Toyota Safety Sense once the covers are taken off.

With Toyota pushing for more hybrid vehicles, turning one of its most popular models into a hybrid vehicle could help the brand realize its electrified future.
