Did Nissan PH apply to have 2023 Z sports car approved?

Back in October, we reported that Nissan Philippines, Inc. (NPI) is going to launch the all-new Z sports car by mid-2023. Now, we have come across a bit of information that could further hype up the Nissan Z's much-awaited debut.

We have spotted that Nissan has already applied for government agency certification for two passenger cars with a 3.0-liter gasoline engine with an exact displacement of 2997cc. One has a curb weight of 1733 kg, while the other weighs 1700 kg. In the Nissan engine family, the exact displacement points out to the VR30DDTT engine that's powering the Z sports car.

But why would Nissan apply for two certifications? Well, in cases like these, two approvals could mean Nissan may possibly bring in two variants. And with different curb weights, this could also mean Nissan could very well offer the all-new Z with two transmission options.

In other markets where the Z is already being sold, transmission choices are either a 9-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual with SynchroRev Match feature. The outgoing local 370Z is currently available with either a manual or an automatic. And if we're right about this one, it looks like it could be carried over to the next-generation Z.

Either way, 2023 is just around the corner, and we won't have to wait for a long time to finally have the Nissan Z's official specifications once it arrives here.
