Confirmed: Polestar Oâ‚‚ electric roadster to enter production but…
Due to overwhelming response, Polestar says it will put its electric roadster concept into production

Remember the Polestar Oâ‚‚ that was revealed earlier this year? The droptop concept served as the brand’s idea for an electric roadster in the not-so-distant future. With its low and wide body stance, minimal overhangs, long wheelbase, and aerodynamic design, the O2 Concept is certainly a looker from every angle.
At the time of its release, Polestar did not mention whether they will actually turn the concept into a production vehicle. Fast forward to August and the automaker has officially announced that the O2 will in fact enter production as the Polestar 6.

“With the overwhelming consumer and press response, we took the decision to put this stunning roadster into production and I am so excited to make it a reality. Polestar 6 is a perfect combination of powerful electric performance and the thrill of fresh air with the top down,” said Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar.
Like the rest of Polestar’s electric vehicles (EVs), the soon-to-be production vehicle will be developed in-house and will benefit from the brand’s bespoke bonded aluminum platform. It will also have an 800-volt electric architecture which has already been confirmed for the Polestar 5. This means the electric droptop can have up to 884 PS along with a whopping 900 Nm from a dual motor powertrain.

As for performance figures, the automaker is aiming to give the Polestar 6 the ability to sprint from 0 - 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h.
To celebrate its upcoming launch, 500 units of a special ‘LA Concept’ version, the ‘Polestar 6 LA Concept edition’, are set to be produced. All limited edition units will feature the unique ‘Sky’ blue exterior, light leather interior, and unique 21-inch wheels of the original Polestar Oâ‚‚ concept.

If you’re one of the lucky few who actually plan to get the Polestar 6 in the future, prepare to wait for quite a while as the automaker mentioned that they expect to launch the electric droptop by 2026. But given the overwhelming response received by the original Polestar Oâ‚‚ concept, the company may have its hands full soon.
