Confirmed: Electric Range Rover to arrive in 2024

To say that electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrids are becoming more mainstream worldwide is an understatement. With brands like Volvo, Bentley, Mercedes-Benz, and Audi already setting up deadlines to make the switch towards zero emissions, the future is indeed looking electric.

But with most of the brands mentioned earlier planning to make the switch in 2030 and beyond, Jaguar Land Rover plans to make the transition as early as the middle of the decade. Earlier this year, Jaguar announced that it will only build EVs starting in 2025. With that in mind, it appears that Land Rover has also joined in and has announced that there will be an electric version of the Range Rover.

That's right, a pure electric Range Rover will be joining the lineup in 2024. This was confirmed by Land Rover themselves when they recently launched the all-new Range Rover.

"Another exciting development for Range Rover, a vehicle that represents ultimate luxury and class, as it advances into the future as a luxury EV by 2024. We will be able to share more information about this astonishing vehicle in the next coming days," said Chris Ward, president of Coventry Motors Corporation, the official distributor of Land Rover in the country.

The exact details about the upcoming EV are still a mystery. However, they say that the electric Range Rover will be the first in a series of all-electric Land Rovers. By the end of the decade, every JLR nameplate will be available with pure-electric propulsion – helping the company achieve net-zero carbon across its products, operations, and supply chain by 2039.

Once launched in 2024, the Range Rover EV could be powered by electric motors derived from the Jaguar I-Pace. For reference, the electric crossover currently makes 400 PS and 696 Nm of torque. With that in mind, the Range Rover version could make more power as it is a heavier vehicle, and commands a more premium price.
