Chevrolet Equinox EV to challenge Ford Mach-E
Here's your first look at the Chevrolet Equinox EV crossover

Remember when Chevrolet revealed the electric Silverado pick-up last week? Set to go up against the likes of the Tesla Cybertruck and Ford F-150 Lightning, the all-new EV is set to deliver 673 PS, as well as 1,073 Nm of torque. More importantly, the most powerful version has a towing capacity of 4,535 kg and a maximum payload capacity of 590 kg.
Combined with its claimed 643 km range, and the Silverado EV is looking to change the way we look at pick-up trucks, as well as electric vehicles. But it seems Chevy isn't looking just at the full-size pick-up truck market.
Also set to be launched is the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV. Recently previewed by the bow-tie brand, the Equinox EV will serve as the company’s “affordable, functional compact SUV” that produces zero emissions.

Starting with the styling, the Equinox EV features a radical exterior design. It gets a closed-off black grille, a full-width LED daytime running light, and large corner intakes. In the RS version, the EV also gets a black roof, black side mirror caps, black side skirts, distinct black alloy wheels, black bow-tie badges, and an RS logo on the front grille.
Rounding up the exterior upgrades on the Equinox EV are the sharp taillights, roof-mounted spoiler, gloss black body cladding, and a sporty rear bumper.
The exact specifications of the Equinox EV have yet to be revealed. However, Chevy did confirm that it will be underpinned by the Ultium Platform, which will also be used by the 2024 Silverado EV. With that, it could have equal or slightly less range than the Silverado. In addition, the Equinox could also come with a fast DC charging system that will allow for faster recharging times.

“The Equinox has always played an important role for Chevrolet as the second-highest selling brand nameplate. Providing an affordable EV option in the industry’s highest-volume segment proves Chevy is going to make EVs available to everyone,” said Steve Hill, vice president of Chevrolet.
Once the Equinox EV is officially revealed, it will join Chevrolet’s growing EV lineup that consists of the Bolt, Bolt EUV, and the previously mentioned Silverado. More importantly, the Equinox EV is looking to take on the Ford Mustang Mach-E, and the Tesla Model X.
In the future, GM CEO Mary Barra confirmed that more models (including heavy-duty pick-ups and full-size SUVs) will become electrified.
