Chery Jetour T-1 looks like a Bronco/Defender lovechild
Chery Jetour T-1 will debut at 2023 Shanghai Auto Show

Carmakers from around the world seem to love the appeal of boxy 4x4s. Case in point - Germany has the G-Wagon, UK has the Defender, Japan's got the Jimny, and America has the Bronco. Well now, China has hopped in on the bandwagon.

After Great Wall Motors came up with the Tank 300 last year, Chery's sub-brand Jetour has given us a first glimpse of its rival – welcome the T-1 4x4 SUV.
Based on its looks, the Jetour T-1 seems to have followed the Tank 300's direction when it comes to design. But unlike the GWM 4x4 which looks like a mashup of the Bronco and Jeep Renegade, the T-1 came out looking like the Bronco in front, but the rest has Defender vibes all over.

According to reports, the Jetour T-1 could be available in 5 and 7-seater versions, with the latter being longer – much like the Defender 110 and 130.
In terms of its engine, sources say the SUV will be powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that puts out 254 PS and 390 Nm of torque. If we're not wrong on this one, the Jetour T-1 may be powered by the same engine that's found in the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro AWD. Furthermore, the Jetour T-1 may be sharing more components with the Tiggo 8 Pro, as reports say a 1.6 turbo and a PHEV version will soon follow.

Inside, the spy shots reveal the T-1 having a similar boxy dashboard design, complete with a flat top and flat bottom steering wheel, a floating touchscreen for the infotainment system, and a wireless charging pad underneath.
The Chery Jetour T-1 will have its public debut at the 2023 Shanghai Auto Show in April, while its domestic launch is expected to happen in the third quarter of this year. Should GWM in the Philippines offer the Tank 300, then the Jetour T-1 would make a nice addition to the local Chery lineup.
