Changan PH launching a new crossover at MIAS 2024

The 2024 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) is about to happen this April. The days and weeks leading up to the annual event are usually the time when automakers give hints as to what they have in store for this year.

Changan Auto Philippines, meanwhile, did away with giving just teasers. Instead, they confirmed they are launching a new model in MIAS called the CS15.

If you’re familiar with Changan’s naming scheme, then you’ll know it’s going to be a crossover, and that the CS15 is bound to slot below the CS35 and CS55 Plus in the local model lineup.

Size-wise, the Changan CS15 is about 4135mm long, 1740mm wide, and 1630mm tall with a 2520mm wheelbase. This puts it squarely against the likes of the Chery Tiggo 2, the Geely GX3 Pro, and the popular Toyota Raize in the small crossover segment.

The CS15 has been around for a while in the Chinese market. And if you take a look at it, the crossover has some of the styling cues of the Alsvin sedan, particularly in the front fascia. It has some VW T-Cross / Changan CS35 vibe to it with the upright stance, but it still gets some unique styling elements to establish its identity on the road.

Inside, the CS15’s dashboard layout features an integrated large touchscreen at the center, with rectangular vents and physical knobs for the A/C controls.

Changan Auto Philippines has not shared any other technical details about the CS15. But based on the brand’s latest regulatory approval in the country, it could be powered by the Alsvin’s naturally aspirated 1.5-liter, four-cylinder engine that puts out 107 PS and 145 Nm of torque. Furthermore, it could also be paired with a 5-speed wet-type DCT to transfer power to the front wheels.

As for its pricing, we may have to wait until MIAS to get the exact numbers. But based on what the market suggests for its competitors, we won’t be surprised if the CS15 falls within the PHP 800k to under the PHP 1M range when it's launched.
