CAVITEX delays toll fee hike implementation to May 22

Last week, AutoIndustriya.com reported that CAVITEX will be implementing toll hikes starting May 12, 2022. This meant motorists who frequently take the expressway will have to pay more than their usual rates.

As it stands, Class 1 vehicles have to pay PHP 25 while Class 2 motorists have to shell out PHP 67 every time they take CAVITEX. Last but not least, Class 3 vehicles are required to pay PHP 75 per entry.

However, it looks like CAVITEX has decided to defer the implementation of the toll fee hike to a later date. This comes after Cavitex Infrastructure Corporation (CIC), together with its joint venture partner Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA) announced that the new toll fee rates will instead begin on May 22, 2022.

The decision to delay the toll fee increase was to give more time for the registration of PUV drivers and operators to the toll reprieve program. This will allow them to pay for the old toll rates through a rebate program.

The toll reprieve program is a system driven via the RFID. PUV operators and drivers only need to enroll their accounts in the program in coordination with their different transport organizations. The program will run for 90 days on Day 1 of implementing the new toll rates this coming Sunday.

The new rates are inclusive of the 2011 and 2014 periodic toll petitions, and add-on toll petition for enhancement works done in the expressway. Starting May 22, motorists plying through CAVITEX R-1 (R-1 segment (Cavitex Longos Bacoor to MIA Exit v.v.) will be charged the following amounts; PHP 33 for Class 1, PHP 67 for Class 2, and PHP 100 for Class 3.

With a couple of days left before the new toll fee prices are put in place, those who regularly take CAVITEX can still pay for their usual rates.
