Cadillac's InnerSpace concept is a luxury lounge on wheels
Relax, enjoy a movie, and let the car drive itself in Cadillac's luxurious InnerSpace concept

General Motors had a lot in store at this year’s CES. The automaker revealed the Chevrolet Silverado EV and the new Equinox EV. But it seems the company’s luxury brand – Cadillac – also had something up its sleeve, the InnerSpace Concept. Unlike the two, which are production models, this one is still a concept.

The InnerSpace concept is essentially an autonomous lounge on wheels. As the name suggests, it’s about creating a smooth and serene atmosphere for occupants. There’s enough space for only two people, giving them plenty of room to relax and chill in a luxurious setting. There’s no need for a driver either; the concept is fully autonomous.

To get around, a large, immersive SMD LED display allows passengers to interact with various functions of the vehicle – from Augmented Reality Engagement and Entertainment. This could mean occupants can watch a movie, play video games, or even sleep during the duration of travel. The automaker also mentioned Wellness Recovery, which we presume will help occupants relax after a long day of work.

Cadillac did not disclose specific details about the InnerSpace concept such as the size and the powertrain. Based on the photos, it looks very low and sleek akin to a sports car. It also uses Ultium batteries, but these are spread out instead of being clumped together into one big battery pack. According to Cadillac, this will allow the floor to be lower, for a sportier feel.

“Electrification and autonomous driving will fundamentally change the role of vehicles and the experiences customers have with them. We’re exploring where that will go with these innovative concepts, envisioning mobility as an ally of wellness, giving customers the ultimate luxury, more personal time rather than taking it,” said Bryan Nesbitt, GM executive director, Global Advanced Design and Global Architecture Studio.

The InnerSpace is one of three concepts Cadillac has revealed at CES as part of the Halo Concept Portfolio. The first two were PersonalSpace, a single-seat, personal vertical takeoff and landing concept designed to literally move its passenger from the congestion of ground traffic, and the SocialSpace, a roomy, autonomous vehicle for up to six, designed to help passengers relax and recharge. Both were revealed at last year’s CES.
