BYD testing an electrified pickup truck?
Aside from having sedans, hatchbacks, and crossovers, BYD could soon have a pickup truck in the future

When we think of BYD, we immediately think of cars like the Dolphin, the Seal, the Seagull, and the Atto 3 which was recently launched in the country. They're known for having a wide array of electrified hatchbacks, sedans, and crossovers. However, they may soon join the pickup truck arena.
Just a couple of days ago, a prototype pickup truck was spotted being tested somewhere in the People's Republic. Based on insider information, the lightly camouflaged vehicle is supposedly BYD's upcoming electrified pickup truck. Looking at the grainy images, it appears the prototype being tested by BYD is a midsize pickup truck that could perhaps take on the likes of the GWM Cannon.

Starting with its design, the BYD pickup in question features a squared front fascia that appears to have been inspired by the Ford F-150, particularly the covered LED daytime running lights. It also gets a clamshell-style hood, large doors, running boards on either side, diamond-cut alloy wheels, a tall ground clearance, and a decently sized bed.
The interior of the prototype pickup was also briefly seen. Despite the blurry image quality, we can see that the pickup truck gets a massive touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, an electro-mechanical gear selector, and several toggle switches.

What exactly powers the prototype BYD pickup remains a mystery. However, it's expected that the truck will reportedly be available with a plug-in hybrid powertrain as well as fully electric hardware. In addition, the vehicle might also come with a hydraulic suspension system that can lower or raise its ride height, digital rearview mirrors, and perhaps an augmented reality camera system to help drivers see better during parking or maneuvering.
Hopefully, we get to see more details or possible leaks about BYD's supposed pickup truck in the coming months.
