BYD prepping to launch Sealion 7 EV in PH?
Department of Energy includes BYD Sealion 7 on its list of recognized EVs

As we know it, BYD is now the world’s biggest seller of electric vehicles. We don’t even need to take a look at other countries to see why – all it takes is a visit to a local BYD dealership, and you already see how extensive the brand’s EV offerings are.
Speaking of which, it looks like BYD is looking to expand it even further. Based on our most recent look at the Department of Energy’s recognized EVs, the agency has included the BYD Sealion 7 on the list.

And yes, unlike the Sealion 5 and Sealion 6, which are plug-in hybrids, the Sealion 7 is a fully electric midsize crossover with seating for five passengers. The DOE list includes the vehicle size that measures 4830 mm long, 1925 mm wide, and 1620 mm tall. By those numbers, the Sealion 7 competes directly with the likes of the Tesla Model Y.

The variant that’s currently included on the list comes in the AWD Performance trim, meaning it has a dual motor setup that puts out 390 kW, or about 530 PS and 690 Nm of torque. The list also says the Sealion 7’s Blade battery capacity is at 82.56 kWh, giving it a range of up to 456 km based on the WLTP standards.

We’ll know more about other details and specifications should BYD push through with launching the Sealion 7, as not all vehicle models in the DOE list come from official distributors and importers. But considering the brand’s aggressive push in offering a model to every mobility need, we wouldn’t be surprised if it does join the local BYD lineup in the coming weeks or months.
