BYD has produced its 13 millionth New Energy Vehicle
After achieving 10 million NEVs produced last Nov 2024, BYD has made its 13 millionth NEV less than a year later

Back in November 2024, BYD celebrated its 30th anniversary in a huge way when it rolled off its 10-millionth New Energy Vehicle (NEV). This is an impressive feat since BYD made its 9 millionth NEV in September 2024.
Fast forward to July 2025, BYD is proud to announce it has achieved yet another production milestone. Recently, the automaker officially produced its 13 millionth NEV. The milestone unit was a Yangwang U7, which is a high-performance all-electric sedan from one of its sub-brands. For BYD, this achievement is once again proof of their commitment to deliver and build high-quality NEVs that are quick, efficient, environmentally-friendly, and can provide zero-emissions mobility.
The Yangwang U7 is available either as a battery electric vehicle (BEV) or as a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) via the brand’s DM-i system. The BEV variant comes with four electric motors and is powered by a 135.5 kWh battery that provides a range of up to 720 km based on the CLTC cycle. It has a total system output of 960 kW or 1,305 PS, can sprint from 0 - 100 km/h in less than 3 seconds, and has a top speed of 270 km/h.

On the other hand, the PHEV version comes with a 2.0L turbocharged flat-four engine that serves as a generator and makes for a lower center of gravity. The engine is then paired to the same four electric motors as the BEV variant but gets a smaller 52.4 kWh battery pack and is accompanied by a 60-liter fuel tank.
Like the U7 BEV, the PHEV is capable of sprinting from 0 - 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and is rated to have a total system range of over 1,000 km based on the CLTC cycle. On pure electric power, the U7 PHEV is capable of covering up to 200 km.
Apart from having electrified powertrains, the U7 also features a fully digital chassis technology. This consists of ulteamagentic actuators that replace traditional dampers thanks to the Disus-Z active suspension. This allows for better ride comfort as well as improved handling since the rear wheels can turn up to 20 degrees, resulting in a reduced turning radius of 4.85 meters.
Depending on customer preference, the U7 can be specified as a four-seater or as a five-seater, with the latter being equipped with a rear entertainment system, dual refrigerators, and ventilated Nappa leather upholstery.
With BYD achieving 13 million NEVs, perhaps it might not be long before the brand makes its 15th millionth NEV later this year.
