BYD claims U9 EV supercar can reach 100 km/h in 2 seconds
2023 Yangwang U9 has four electric motors with a combined output of 1,115 PS

BYD's newly launched EV brand called Yangwang just showed us how flexible and modular modern EV platforms have become.
Just as they presented the U8 electric off-roader, Yangwang also revealed its surprising counterpart – an electric supercar called the U9.

At first glance, the U9 may look as if it was inspired by the Lamborghini Huracan, but its LED light signatures in front and at the rear would tell a different story. Large C-shaped headlights dominate the front fascia while the center section feeds air to the underbelly and produces downforce.
Black elements on the front vents, roof, and engine cover create a duo-tone appearance with the bright yellow paint, while full-width LED taillights and the massive diffuser give the U9 its own character at the rear.

So far, only the exterior look has been shown by Yangwang and they did not reveal much about its powertrain details. However, since the manufacturer said the quad-motor powertrain will be standard across all models of the Yangwang brand, the U9 is likely to have the U8 off-roader's four electric motors that produce 299-326 PS and 320-420 Nm of torque. When combined, the U9's quad-motor setup has an output of 1,115 PS.
Yangwang says the U9 can reach 100 km/h from a standstill in 2 seconds flat, giving the EV supercar phenomenal performance off the line. In addition, since the electric motors can be independently controlled, the U9 is expected to also perform well on the corners with its sophisticated torque vectoring system.

For now, Yangwang has not revealed when the U9 will be launched in China but already suggested the EV supercar will retail for USD 145,340 (PHP 7.9-million). At that price point for a supercar, it has the potential to undercut the likes of Rimac and Lotus while offering the same levels of EV performance off the line. Let's keep our eyes peeled for this.
