BMW PH adds two new variants to 2 Series lineup
2023 BMW 218i M Sport, M240i xDrive now available in PH

SMC Asia Car Distributors Corporation, the official importer and distributor of BMW vehicles in the Philippines, has given customers a wider range of options for the 2 Series Coupe with the addition of two more variants.
The 2 Series Coupe is now available in the 218i M Sport and the M240i xDrive variant for 2023, joining the 220i M Sport that was launched in the country last April.

For starters, the 218i M Sport is now the 2 Series lineup's entry-level variant. At PHP 3.59 million, the 218i retails PHP 100,000 less than the 220i M Sport. It gets the same M Aerodynamic package that consists of the M High Gloss Shadow Line, M Sport Suspension, 18-inch M lightweight alloy wheels, and M Rear Spoiler for its exterior goodies.

Meanwhile, the interior also gets Sport Seats finished in Alcantara/Sensatec upholstery and an M leather-wrapped steering wheel. New features for the 218i M Sport include a bigger 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment powered by iDrive Operating System 8.0. Like the 220i M Sport, the new infotainment comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard.
Despite having the same 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo inline-four as that of the 220i M Sport, the 218i M Sport's engine produces less power and torque at 156 PS and 250 Nm (184 PS, 300 Nm in the 220i M Sport). The transmission, however, remains the same – an 8-speed Steptronic Automatic with paddle shifters to drive the rear wheels.
On the other hand, the M240i xDrive pushes the performance of the 2 Series to greater heights. Unlike the 218i and 220i M Sport that has 2.0-liter, four-cylinder turbo powerplants, the M240i xDrive has the bigger and renowned 3.0-liter inline-six TwinPower Turbo called the B58.

Producing 374 PS and 500 Nm of torque, the potent inline-six is paired with a ZF 8-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission. As the xDrive name suggests, the M240i is all-wheel-drive, allowing the coupe to reach 100 km/h from a standstill in just 4.3 seconds.
In addition to the high-performance powertrain, the M240i xDrive also gets a number of enhancements to its suspension, plus interior and exterior goodies to set it apart from the rest of the 2 Series lineup.
The M240i xDrive gets an adaptive M suspension and a BMW M Sport differential to enhance the sports coupe's handling regardless of the road conditions ahead. For its exterior, the M240i xDrive features the BMW M 50 Years badge, M Sport brake calipers finished in Dark Blue Metallic, and 19-inch M light alloy wheels wrapped in run-flat tires.

Inside, the M240i xDrive gets the same interior equipment as that of the 218i and 218i M Sport, but the interior material is finished in leather vernasca décor stitching upholstery that's available in three colors – Tacora Red, Black, and Oyster.
In terms of pricing, the M240i xDrive can be yours for PHP 4.89 million. For buyers' peace of mind, BMW Philippines offers a comprehensive 5-year warranty to the M240i xDrive along with the rest of the 2 Series lineup.
